Boss of the Week: Ricky Williams- 22 Att, 119 Yds, 2 TD, 2 Rec, 19, TD
Starting in place of Ronnie Brown, who was placed on IR, Ricky Williams hulked up majorly Thursday night, scoring all three of Miami’s touchdowns in their victory over Carolina. The ageless wonder scored on a 14-yard catch, a 1-yard run out of the Wildcat, and a 46-yard burst late in the game. Williams now has 10 total touchdowns and has been a fantasy stud this season with and without Brown in the lineup. Next week his matchup versus the Bills league-worst run defense is heavenly.
Weakest of the Week: Denver Broncos offense- 3 points
Per NFL.com, The Broncos were unsuccessful in their four red-zone chances and three of their six second-half drives ended when they couldn't convert on fourth down.
The Chargers defense is solid, but they’re not exactly the ’85 Bears so WTF. The Broncos are definitely on a tailspin right now.
Honorable Mention: Marshawn Lynch- 8 Att, 18 Yds, shoulder injury
I officially give up on Marshawn Lynch aka Least Mode (no longer Beast Mode). Keep dude on your bench until he shows us something. The good news is that Lynch expects his shoulder to be fine by next week. Or is that bad news for fantasy owners? Fred Jackson killed it in the first three games this season while Lynch was suspended, but the Bills running game has been nothing but disappointing ever since.
Big Three in GB
Aaron Rodgers, Ryan Grant, and Greg Jennings were all on the same page Sunday, each putting up gaudy numbers against San Fran at Lambeau. Here are the stats:
Rodgers- 344 Yds, 2 TD
Grant- 21 Att, 129 Yds, TD, 2 Rec, 16 Yds
Jennings- 5 Rec, 126 Yds, TD
This is the simultaneous production we know these three guys are capable of, so it was great to see this week. The Packers get the pleasure of feasting on Detroit on Thanksgiving next week. Yum.
Shootout in Detroit City
I’m not sure how many of you guys started Matthew Stafford or Brady Quinn this week, but they put up some crazy numbers in their matchup Sunday. Stafford finished with 422 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions in Detroit’s 38-37 victory. Meanwhile Quinn totaled 304 yards and four touchdowns, with three TDs coming in the first quarter. The Detroit and Cleveland defenses are just pathetic, lol.
Calvin Johnson finally delivered a game his owners have been thirsty for, finishing with 161 yards and a touchdown coming on a 75-yard bomb. Very nice. This is why you never bench a true stud like Calvin, despite his recent struggles, because you’ll be suicidal if he’s on your bench when he blows up like that.
40-Year Old Hulk
Brett Favre’s 21:3 TD to INT ratio is disgusting. It goes without saying that I love watching him and the Vikes offense this season. They’re super entertaining and I’ll certainly be pulling for them in the playoffs. Thankfully Favre granted my request from a week ago, finding Sidney Rice for two touchdowns this week in their blowout of Seattle.
Week 11 Observations/Thoughts
The Dolphins leading receiver, Davone Bess, is due for a TD, wow. He still hasn’t reached the endzone yet this year.
Laurence Maroney has now scored in five straight games and now has six touchdowns on the season. He continues to look like a gully 13th round selection.
Steven Jackson has now scored in three straight games after having no touchdowns in the first seven games. S. Jax is averaging 4.8 yards per carry this year, which is great to see after barely gaining 4 YPC last year. He had 116 rushing yards Sunday, making it four straight 100-yard games.
Vernon Davis is an alien. He racked up another six catches for 108 yards and a touchdown. Alex Smith loves him, seemingly hitting Davis on a seam route TD every week. V.D. now has eight touchdowns on the season. Wow.
Justin Forsett, Jason Snelling, LeSean McCoy, and Bernard Scott were all fantasy factors while filling in for injured starters this week. Ride them as long as you can.
Mike Sims-Walker scored his sixth TD, a game winner, against Buffalo Sunday. Apparently, if you have a hyphen in your last name and you’re on the Jaguars, you’re a hulk.
The Dallas offense’s seven points continued to disappoint fantasy heads this week. By the way, where the hell is Jason Witten this year? On a brighter note, the running game was effective, with Marion Barber hitting 99 yards on 20 carries. Felix Jones also averaged five yards a carry.
Pierre Thomas had a strong rushing day – 11 Att, 92 Yards – but Mike Bell received more carries (13 for 75 Yds) and scored two touchdowns. This Saints RB fantasy carousel has been ridiculously frustrating lately! However, I think I’ll be sticking with Pierre in hope that it’s his turn to explode next.
Robert Meachem quietly has six touchdowns on the season. He scored two Sunday and is a straight reserve WR in fantasy. I like it.
Brandon Jacobs has been an under-the-radar bust candidate this year, as he only had two touchdowns going into Week 11. He scored his third Sunday against Atlanta, which is encouraging for the second half of the season, assuming his knee is okay. It got a little banged up on Sunday.
Nice to see Terrell Owens showed up in Week 11. I’m sure he was on plenty of fantasy benches for that explosion.
Big Ben Roethlisberger and Hines Ward look as good as ever, while the Steelers running game continues to struggle in the red zone. It’s been a 100-plus rushing attempts since they’ve run for a TD, which is the longest current streak. Big Ben suffered a concussion late in the game, but early signs suggest he’ll be ready for the Ravens next week.
Kurt Warner also suffered a concussion after throwing for 203 yards and two touchdowns against St. Louis. Monitor his health this week as well, and pickup Matt Leinart as insurance if you Warner owners have roster space.
Wes Welker posted a career high in receptions (15) and yards (192). His 15 grabs are also a league season-high. Both Welker and Randy Moss currently sit in the league’s top-5 in receiving yards.
